On April 30, 2009 Young and Strong Boston is hosting a concert at O’Brien’s Pub in Allston, MA. It will feature the talents of touring bands Capital Scam from Austin, TX, Dirty South Revolutionaries from Charlotte, NC and hometown heroes The Murder from Boston, MA. This is the first in a long series of concerts throughout the Boston area that will feature touring bands from other states and countries. “My goal is to bring punk from other regions to the Boston area. We have some amazing bands around here, but it’s also great to have some variation. All of the concerts that I put on will feature the most talented bands from both Boston and beyond. On May 15, Young and Strong brings UK oi band The Business and Flatfoot 56 to Club Lido in Revere, MA with local support from The Welch Boys, Refuse Resist and newcomers Razors in the Night.
The Murder have established themselves as Boston’s premier punk rock ‘n’ roll band. Taking their influence from rock, reggae and country, they have forged a sound that is both dynamic and approachable. After a busy year of promoting their self-titled EP (Boston Punk, 2008) the group is currently writing and recording for the follow up full-length, “Streets of Boston”, due out late summer 2009.

Capital Scam formed in 2004 in Beaumont T.X. by former members of Dead dogs,Destruction League and the Sex Dolls. After playing a hand full of shows and recording the first album (Nuclear War 2005) the band relocated to Austin,TX . After a couple of line up changes and soon after, a 7” was released (Quarantined 2007) then a full length album (Smash Your TV 2008). Currently the band is writing a new E.P. for 2009.

Dirty South Revolutionaries (Tent City Records) is a band from Charlotte, NC that mixes every kind of punk that is out there. Young & Strong Boston is the brainchild of Refuse Resist’s lead singer Shawn Refuse. It’s a unique Booking and Promoting entity that brings bands from other states and countries into the Boston area to showcase the talent in Punk, Hardcore and Oi. “It was really the next step in my progression of trying to help a dying breed. Yeah there are a lot of ‘punk’ bands in Boston, but the sounds are all melding into only a couple variations of each other. I started by booking little shows for my band and it caught like wild fire. And the difference between me and the other promoters out there, you will see me at all of the shows in the area. I support the scene, whether it’s a show I put on, or not.” – Shawn Refuse
